The Voices at Risk, Visions of Hope Speaker Series at IUPUI presents “The Challenge for Ethiopia”, a lecture given by Dr. Befekadu Degefe on October 14, from 12:00 - 1:30 at the IUPUI Office of International Affairs (902 W. New York St., ES2132).
Befekadu Degefe is a visiting professor of economics from Ethiopia at McGill University as well as universities and research institutions in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Zambia. He has contributed extensive policy research and papers for the IMF, the World Bank, and various UN bodies. As chair of the Ethiopian Economic Association, he also founded the Ethiopian Economic Policy Institute responsible for numerous critical reports on the Ethiopian economy. He is the 2009-2010 “Rescued Scholar” in Residence at the The New School, New York.
