Egypt: SAR files submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review
Posted August 6, 2024
On July 17, 2024, SAR submitted a report on Egypt to the United Nations Universal Periodic Review (UPR). The report, prepared in collaboration with the legal clinic of the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism at McGill University, Canada, focuses on the long term pattern of repression of scholars, students, and higher education institutions, which collectively have led to Egypt being ranked in the bottom ten percent of states worldwide for protection of academic freedom for the past decade. SAR gratefully acknowledges the research and drafting work of McGill University faculty and students.
