International Society of Political Psychology (ISPP) Scholars Under Threat Fund: [Various academic disciplines] ISPP has established a fund where scholars under threat can request funding for emergency support and/or to cover research costs. These costs can include travel and living expenses for scholars who are under threat to visit colleagues and develop a research collaboration, as well as to organize for foreign scholars to travel to the applicant’s home country to conduct joint research that supports the applicant’s scholarly activities. Additionally, the main goals of FWF’s international activities are to help increase the number of international research collaborations and strengthen Austria’s international visibility as a research location.

Einstein Foundation: [Germany] [Various academic disciplines] Offers several fellowship programs at Berlin’s public universities, including a special program to support academic freedom.
Einstein Guest Researcher Fellowships: [Germany] [Various academic disciplines] Offers two types of fellowships for academics with a doctorate from abroad who are experiencing constraints in their academic freedom or who are under threat in their home countries. There are two tracks of support:
- Immediate Support: a scholarship for up to twelve months for academics who are outside of Germany
- Advanced Support: a temporary university position for academics who are already in Germany and want to pursue a research project in Berlin
In order to apply, academics need to identify a host at one of the eligible institutions (Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Universität der Künste Berlin, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) who is willing to serve as a mentor. Eagle Online Academy: A free opportunity for Ukrainian women to learn everything you need to know to start teaching English either overseas or online over the internet. This is a 120-hour TESOL/TEFL course.
Edraak: Edraak, is a massive open online course (MOOC) platform, that is an initiative of the Queen Rania Foundation (QRF). Through its partnership with edX, the platform gives Arab learners access in Arabic to courses taught and developed at top tier institutions like HarvardX, MITX, and UC BerkelyX. All courses are delivered at no cost to the learner. Additionally, Arab university professors and regional experts can use the platform to give courses in English about the region and its history.
InZone: InZone is a program of the University of Geneva offering Certificates of Open Studies in a new academic format specifically designed for people on the move. They are offering advanced course on community health & Education in Emergencies (Education in Emergencies course in French only).
Journal of Interrupted Studies: Interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal published by Brill, which accepts submissions in the sciences and humanities by scholars whose academic work has been interrupted by forced migration or exile. The journal also accepts material based on research that has been conducted but could not be completed.
NaTakallam: A language learning platform connecting refugees with learners of Arabic, French, Persian, and Spanish.
New University in Exile Consortium: Based at The New School in New York, USA. Seeks to connect threatened scholars who are currently in temporary fellowships at universities around the world through seminars, workshops, and conferences.
- New University in Exile Consortium Co-Led Online Seminars: These seminars are co-led by two endangered scholars – one who is hosted by a Consortium member institution, and the other a colleague of their choice. The seminars are designed to connect endangered scholars to the global academic community and offer students who have lost their professors an opportunity to re-engage. They are free and open to anyone anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

Forum Curator at the Miami Institute for the Social Sciences: A virtual community of scholars bringing to the center of academic scholarship perspectives and understandings of the Global Majority in the social sciences and neighboring fields— invites scholars in the SAR Network to curate virtual forums on topics of interest to them in their fields. Curators of virtual forums tend to bring together a group of four to five colleagues across the Global South and North to reflect on a central question about their field to which the group responds first through relatively informal and short essays of 1,500 words. Once the essays are published online at the Miami Institute— with open access—the forum curator leads a virtual public conversation among the essay authors. Free Online Course: Digital Learning for Youth and adults in forcibly displaced communities: This course, developed by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, The Open University, the Connected Learning in Crisis Consortium (CLCC), and UNHCR, reviews, discusses, and critiques existing policies and practices in national or organizational contexts as they relate to digital learning for youths and adults. It has been designed for policy makers, program providers, and digital learning practitioners who are involved in the design, delivery, and monitoring of activities, to promote critical, participatory, and inclusive approaches to digital learning for forcibly displaced youth and adults. A certificate of participation and a digital badge will be awarded upon course completion.

ONWARDS Project: Opportunity Network for At-Risk Writers, Artists, Rights Defenders, and Scholars—is a collaborative initiative offering support to displaced individuals in the United States. Distance Learning (DL) Sanctuary Awards, University of Leicester: These DL Sanctuary Awards offer opportunities for those who have been forcibly displaced from their homes and/or who are at risk of political persecution, violence or conflict anywhere in the world to study with the University of Leicester part-time via distance learning. Applicants can be based anywhere in the world as long as there is regular access to the internet.
Global Mentorship Initiative: [Global] [Remote] GMI matches first-generation, low-income, and refugee students with a dedicated mentor who provides personalized one-to-one career coaching during one of the most challenging and consequential moments of their lives, the transition from education to employment. Our virtual model ensures that students from anywhere in the world have access to guided support they prepare to secure their first professional job and build the foundation for thriving careers.
Hilde Domin Students at Risk Programme: [Germany] The program serves to support students and doctoral candidates from across the globe, who are at risk of being formally or de facto denied educational or other rights in their country of origin, and to provide these students and doctoral candidates with an opportunity to begin or complete a study or research degree at a higher education institution in Germany. New School of the Anthropocene: The New School of the Anthropocene offers free places for its one-year diploma to English-speaking refugees now living in the UK, who’ve had their current university education interrupted by the wars in Palestine, Sudan, Ukraine, Yemen and elsewhere.
World University Service of Canada Student Refugee Program: [Canada] [Various academic disciplines] [Students]: The Student Refugee Program (SRP) is a unique program that combines resettlement to Canada with access to post-secondary education for young refugees. WUSC accepts applications from eligible applicants in the following countries of asylum: Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, and Uganda.
Palestine
Amideast – Hope Fund: Provides young, academically talented Palestinians who possess potential with an opportunity to pursue undergraduate degrees in the United States.
Friends of Birzeit University (Fobzu): Fobzu supports access to education for young Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip by providing scholarships to undergrad students in financial need. Each scholarship covers the fees of a university course for one year and aim to provide support for students for the duration of a typical 4-year degree.
