7th ANIE Annual Conference

SAR’s Acting Director of Learning, Lauren Crain, will give a workshop on ‘Promoting Values in International Partnerships’ and an introductory session on getting involved with the Scholars at Risk Network at the 7th ANIE Annual Conference in Accra, Ghana.
The workshop will be an opportunity for participants to learn more about Scholars at Risk’s international consultation group working to prepare a guide on higher education values in order to offer a framework for dialogue and activities both within and between higher education institutions grappling with issues of equitable access, accountability, academic freedom, autonomy, and social responsibility.
Established in 2008, the African Network for Internationalization of Education (ANIE) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental pan-African network and think tank committed to the advancement of high quality research, capacity building, information sharing and exchange, transnational networking and cooperation, and policy advocacy on the internationalization of higher education to enable African universities and development stakeholders take optimal advantage of the opportunities presented by internationalization and globalization. The 7th ANIE Annual Conference will bring more insights into (i) the drivers and challenges of international partnerships (both South-South and North-South partnerships) in higher education in Africa (ii) the nature and forms of existing international partnerships (iii) the role they play in knowledge production and sustainable development (iv) Gaps and opportunities that exist to initiate and sustain partnerships for development.
