Saturday, Apr 08 2017 12:00 am
The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology is opening an exhibition entitled “Cultures in the Crossfire: Stories from Syria and Iraq” that concerns the destruction of cultural heritage in the Middle East.
This exhibition will tell the stories of Iraq and Syria through time by drawing on the Museum’s extensive collection of ancient artifacts and the modern work of Syrian artist and Cambridge professor Issam Kourbaj. The exhibition will also highlight the work being done by the University of Pennsylvania and the Smithsonian to prevent the further loss of artistic cultural heritage in the Middle East.
