Join us for the formal launch of Free To Think 2023! The report, released on October 31, 2023, analyzes 409 attacks on the higher education community in 66 countries and territories, between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023. It highlights how attacks on academic freedom threaten democratic society and social progress more broadly, and calls on stakeholders to create robust protections for scholars, students, and higher education institutions.

The launch will take place at 9:30 a.m. Brasilia Standard Time on November 9, 2023, (check your timezone here) during the Second Regional Conference on Academic Freedom in the Americas, organized by the Coalition for Academic Freedom in the Americas (CAFA) and hosted by the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná-PUCPR in Curitiba, Brazil. SAR, the Human Rights Research & Education Centre at the University of Ottawa, and the University of Monterrey are founding members of CAFA.

The launch will feature a panel of experts providing regional perspectives on academic freedom and discussing responses to attacks.
