As part of the 2022 conference of the International Relations Officers’ Network of the Association of European Life Science Universities (IROICA) with a focus on inclusive mobility, this webinar will focus on the mobility of refugees and how universities can be a sanctuary for students and academics who suffer threats to their lives, liberty or well-being in their home country.

Speakers:
Leona Binz from Scholars at Risk (SAR) will give an overview of SAR’s efforts to promote academic freedom and offer support to at-risk scholars, in part by arranging temporary positions of sanctuary at institutions in the SAR network for those forced to flee.

Stefanie Kottowksi from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will introduce the “Hilde Domin Program”. This scholarship program serves to support students and doctoral candidates from across the globe, who are at risk of being formally or de facto denied educational or other rights in their country of origin, and to provide these students and doctoral candidates with an opportunity to begin or complete a study or research degree at a higher education institution in Germany.

Ther webinar will take place at 8-9:30 am EST / 14:00 – 15:30 CET. You can register here.
