Towards a German Section of the Scholar at Risk Network
Tuesday, Sep 20 2016 12:00 am
The Humboldt Foundation will discuss with representatives of universities and research institutions in Germany the possibility of establishing a German section of the Scholars at Risk Network.
In order to facilitate an ongoing exchange of experiences between German universities and research institutions about hosting threatened scholars and in order to draw on experiences from organizations abroad, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has offered to serve as the secretariat of a German Section of the global Scholars at Risk Network (for a 3-year pilot phase). As such, the Humboldt Foundation will organize one conference per year on the topic of threatened scholars.
This meeting serves to formally install the German SAR section, to discuss the needs of German universities and research institutions, and to plan the contents of the first conference of the German SAR section (Berlin, 27 and 28 April 2017). The conferences organized by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation are geared towards administrators and are open to any interested university and research institution in Germany independent of their status within the global SAR network.
