UCLA’s Center for Near Eastern Studies will host a symposium addressing academic freedom in the Middle East with a special focus on Turkey.

This event will also serve as the start of UCLA’s campaign to host a threatened scholar from the region.

The symposium will include a keynote speech by Iranian scholar Homa Hoodfar and a panel discussion. Pardis Mahdavi of Pomona College will represent SAR as the member of the SAR-USA Interim Steering Committee for the western states.
