Representatives from the Scholars at Risk Switzerland section will present on SAR activities at an upcoming conference on “Mobilising UNESCO Chairs in Natural Sciences for Policy Action towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” to be held in Geneva on July 5-7.

The conference will bring together for the first time a vast network of UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks specialized in the Natural Sciences, to contribute to global reflections on sustainable development. On July 7th there will be a session dedicated to international initiatives aimed at protecting and/or hosting scientists at risk due to violent conflict or natural disasters. Denis Dafflon (Head of International Relations, University of Lausanne) and Matthias Buess (International Relations Coordinator, University of Lausanne) will represent the SAR network at the event, speaking alongside representatives from the Scholar Rescue Fund, a scholar from Turkey, two UNESCO chairs, and UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences.
