As Program Officer for Protection Services, Emily assesses applications for assistance from potentially at-risk scholars and works with scholars and universities to seek placements within the network. Prior to joining SAR, she worked as a teaching and research assistant at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. She started her career in college access, serving predominantly first-generation, low-income students as a College Advising Manager in Columbus, OH, and currently conducts research on improving higher education access for students from a refugee background. Emily holds an M.S.Ed. in International Educational Development from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in International Studies from The Ohio State University.
