Alisen Stasiowski

As a Program Assistant for the Advocacy team, Alisen conducts research for the Academic Freedom Monitoring Project to document attacks on higher education around the world, as well as the Scholars in Prison by researching relevant cases and liaising with family, friends, lawyers, and partner NGOs about the scholars represented by the project. Prior to joining SAR, Alisen interned and then worked at the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) as a Research Consultant, where she focused on documenting attacks on education, primarily in Ukraine, and contributed to the drafting of Attacks on Education and Military Use of Education Facilities in Ukraine in 2022 and Education Under Attack 2024. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine where she was TEFL volunteer in a local school. Alisen holds a M.A. in International Affairs with a focus on Human Rights and International Conflict Resolution from Columbia University and a B.A. in Political Science from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.
