Annabelle Wilmott is a Program Associate at Scholars at Risk, where she works to build a global network of higher education institutions dedicated to protecting scholars and promoting academic freedom. With a focus on international and underrepresented regions, her responsibilities include engaging existing member institutions in SAR’s protection, advocacy, and values activities and cultivating new institutional partnerships. Annabelle also works to increase the visibility of SAR’s mission through generating digital advocacy content.
As a Fulbright grantee in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Annabelle became interested in disaster and displacement and has since devoted her career to working with those whose lives have been uprooted by disaster, war, or persecution. Before joining SAR, Annabelle worked at the Artistic Freedom Initiative, where she provided legal and resettlement support for artists-at-risk and assisted with the planning and implementation of programs and events. She holds a Master of Science in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Communication, and International Studies from Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus.
