Scholars at Risk is concerned by a violent, targeted attack on a higher education institution and offers condolences to the victims and their families and friends. State authorities should respond to and prevent such attacks, including by conducting investigations and holding perpetrators accountable. In addition to the harm to the immediate victims, violent attacks on higher education institutions undermine academic freedom and democratic society generally.
