On July 19, 2022, a group of student protesters at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) prevented economist and politician Ricardo López Murphy from entering the campus space where he had been scheduled to give a lecture. The event was instead held at a different venue on campus.

Scholars at Risk is concerned about physical intervention intended to prevent an on-campus lecture. While activists have the right to freely assemble and express themselves on campus, they must do so responsibly and consistently with academic freedom and related values. Attempts to censor academic expression erode academic freedom and harm democratic society generally.
