How to Host Handbook

Posted April 15, 2016

Scholars at Risk’s How to Host Handbook is primarily for officers, administrators, faculty and others at higher education institutions as they explore their interest in, plan for, and host threatened scholars and other intellectuals as visiting scholars on their campuses.

The handbook collects in one place the best practices of higher education institutions that have welcomed at-risk scholars as visitors during the first ten years of the SAR network’s existence. These practices are based on their experiences–both rewarding and challenging–as well as the perspective and experience of the central network office. Templates, models and sample letters, press releases and other documents that hosting institutions have found helpful are featured in the appendices, as are additional resources for institutions and scholars.
